Compare the2025 Infiniti QX80VS 2025 GMC Yukon XL

For enhanced safety, the front and second-row seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti QX80 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The GMC Yukon XL doesn’t offer pretensioners for its second-row seat belts.

The Infiniti QX80 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Yukon XL doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the QX80 and the Yukon XL have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

The Infiniti QX80 achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Yukon XL has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The QX80 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Yukon XL’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 24,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the QX80 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than GMC covers the Yukon XL. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Yukon XL ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The QX80’s corrosion warranty is 1 year and unlimited miles longer than the Yukon XL’s (7/unlimited vs. 6/100,000).

Infiniti pays for scheduled maintenance on the QX80 for 3 years and 45000 miles. Infiniti will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. GMC only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Yukon XL.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the QX80 has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the Yukon XL.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are better in initial quality than GMC vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti above average in initial quality. With 14 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 11 places higher in reliability than GMC.

The QX80’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 95 more horsepower (450 vs. 355) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 383) than the Yukon XL’s standard 5.3 V8. The QX80’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 30 more horsepower (450 vs. 420) and 56 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 460) than the Yukon XL Denali’s standard 6.2 V8.

The QX80 has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the QX80 flat and controlled during cornering. The Yukon XL’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For better maneuverability, the QX80’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the Yukon XL’s (40 feet vs. 43.3 feet). The QX80’s turning circle is 4.7 feet tighter than the Yukon XL Denali Ultimate w/24” wheels’ (40 feet vs. 44.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the QX80 Pure has a 2.29 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Yukon XL Denali Ultimate Air Ride (9.6 vs. 7.31 inches), allowing the QX80 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The QX80 Luxe/Sensory/Autograph’s minimum ground clearance is 2.2 inches higher than on the Yukon XL AT4 (10 vs. 7.8 inches).

The QX80 is 1 foot, 2 inches shorter than the Yukon XL, making the QX80 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The QX80 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Yukon XL doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The QX80 has 2.3 inches more third row hip room and .3 inches more third row shoulder room than the Yukon XL.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the QX80’s middle and third row seats recline. The Yukon XL’s third row seats don’t recline.

The QX80 has a standard third row seat which folds flat into the floor. This completely clears a very large cargo area quickly. The Yukon XL doesn’t offer seats that fold into the floor.

The QX80’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Yukon XL’s (8500 vs. 7500 pounds).

The QX80 has a higher standard payload capacity than the Yukon XL (1455 vs. 1360 lbs.).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than GMC. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 30% lower rating, GMC is ranked 20th.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Yukon XL, the QX80 Sensory/Autograph has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The QX80’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Yukon XL’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The QX80 has standard heated front, second and third row seats; a heated third row is standard on the QX80 Autograph, which keep the driver and passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. GMC doesn’t offer heated seats in the third row of the Yukon XL.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and second seat rows keep the QX80 Luxe/Sensory/Autograph’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Yukon XL doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

Both the QX80 and the Yukon XL offer available massaging front seats. The QX80 Autograph also has standard massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging second row seats aren’t available in the Yukon XL.
