The MC20 has standard SOS and Assist Call, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The DB12 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the MC20 and the DB12 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available crash mitigating brakes and around view monitors.

The MC20 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The DB12’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are over 3 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Aston Martin dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the MC20’s warranty.

The MC20’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 513) than the DB12’s 4.0 turbo V8. The MC20 GT2 Stradale’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 513) than the DB12’s 4.0 turbo V8.

On the EPA test cycle the MC20 3.0 turbo V6 gets better fuel mileage than the DB12 (15 city/25 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).

The MC20 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The DB12 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The MC20 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DB12 doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The MC20 offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The DB12 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Maserati MC20 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 650 to 750 pounds less than the Aston Martin DB12.

The MC20’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The DB12 doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the MC20. The DB12 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The MC20 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The DB12 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The MC20’s power window, power lock and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The DB12’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The MC20’s standard rear view mirror and optional side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The DB12 has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Maserati MC20 has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Aston Martin charges extra for Homelink® on the DB12.
