In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Audi SQ7 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Lamborghini Urus has not been tested.

The SQ7 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Urus doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The SQ7 has Car-to-X Services, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Urus doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure.

Both the SQ7 and the Urus have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available night vision systems.

The Audi SQ7 achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Urus has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The SQ7 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Urus’ 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are almost 8 times as many Audi dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the SQ7’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the SQ7 gets better mileage than the Urus running its gasoline engine:

The SQ7’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Urus’ standard 45 series front tires.

The SQ7 has standard seating for 7 passengers; the Urus can only carry up to 5.

The SQ7 has .6 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear headroom and 2 inches more rear shoulder room than the Urus.

The SQ7’s cargo area provides more volume than the Urus.

The SQ7 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Urus doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The SQ7’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Urus’ cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the SQ7 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Urus doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the SQ7 has a standard rear wiper. The Urus doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Laser headlights, standard on the SQ7 Prestige, produce their light by firing blue lasers through phosphorus, a process that uses one-half the power of the Urus’ LED headlights. Laser headlights can have double the range of LEDs with a much smaller surface area.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the SQ7 has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Urus doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

A manual rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are optional in the SQ7 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Urus doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

The SQ7 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Urus.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Audi SQ7 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The Urus doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Audi Q7/SQ7 outsold the Lamborghini Urus by over 10 to one during 2024.
