Compare the2025 Dodge Durango SRTVS 2025 Porsche Macan

The Durango SRT has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Macan doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The Durango SRT has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Macan’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Durango SRT’s standard Rear Cross Path Detection uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Macan doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

Both the Durango SRT and the Macan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes and lane departure warning systems.

The Dodge Durango SRT weighs 1175 to 1424 pounds more than the Porsche Macan. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Dodge’s powertrain warranty covers the Durango SRT 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Macan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Macan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 12 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Durango SRT’s warranty.

The Dodge Durango SRT’s engine uses a cast iron block for durability, while the Macan’s 2.9 turbo V6 engine uses an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

The Durango SRT’s 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 449 more horsepower (710 vs. 261) and 350 lbs.-ft. more torque (645 vs. 295) than the Macan’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The Durango SRT’s 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 335 more horsepower (710 vs. 375) and 262 lbs.-ft. more torque (645 vs. 383) than the Macan S’ standard 2.9 turbo V6. The Durango SRT’s 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 276 more horsepower (710 vs. 434) and 240 lbs.-ft. more torque (645 vs. 405) than the Macan GTS’ standard 2.9 turbo V6.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Durango SRT’s fuel efficiency. The Macan doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Durango SRT has 4.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Macan (24.6 vs. 19.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Dodge Durango SRT, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Macan.

For better traction, the Durango SRT has larger tires than the Macan (295/45R20 vs. 235/55R19). The Durango SRT’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Macan (295/45R20 vs. 265/40R21).

The Durango SRT’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Macan’s standard 55 series front and 50 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Durango SRT has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Macan.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Durango SRT can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Macan doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Durango SRT’s wheelbase is 9.3 inches longer than on the Macan (119.8 inches vs. 110.5 inches).

The Durango SRT’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Macan’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.
