To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Electrified G80. But it costs extra on the Polestar 4.

Both the Electrified G80 and the Polestar 4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis Electrified G80 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The Polestar 4 has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The Electrified G80 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 4’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the Electrified G80 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Polestar covers the 4. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Polestar 4 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 8 times as many Genesis dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Electrified G80’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Polestar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 132 more problems per 100 vehicles, Polestar is rated below average.

The Electrified G80’s electric motors produces 93 more horsepower (365 vs. 272) and 263 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 253) than the Polestar 4’s standard electric motor. The Electrified G80’s electric motors produces 10 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 506) than the Polestar 4’s optional electric motors.

On the EPA test cycle the Electrified G80 gets better mileage than the Polestar 4:

The Electrified G80 can travel longer on a full charge than the Polestar 4 (282 miles vs. 272 miles).

For better traction and acceleration, the Electrified G80 has larger rear tires than the Polestar 4 (275/40R19 vs. 255/50R20). The Electrified G80’s rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Polestar 4 (275/40R19 vs. 265/40R22).

The Electrified G80’s 245/45R19 front and 275/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Polestar 4’s standard 50 series tires.

The Electrified G80 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Electrified G80 has .1 inches more front headroom and .8 inches more rear shoulder room than the Polestar 4.

With its sedan body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Electrified G80 offers cargo security. The Polestar 4’s sport utility bodystyle defeats cargo security.

The Electrified G80’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Polestar 4.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Electrified G80 has standard extendable sun visors. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

A power rear sunshade and manual rear side window sunshades are standard in the Electrified G80 Prestige to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer a rear or rear side window sunshades.

The Electrified G80’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Polestar 4’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Electrified G80 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Polestar 4.

Compared to the Polestar 4, the Genesis Electrified G80 eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.

The Electrified G80 has a 115-volt a/c outlet, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Electrified G80 Prestige’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
